Earlier this week, we celebrated the arts in our community at our annual State of the Arts event. Every year, we take the opportunity to look backwards at the successes of the arts community and also look forward to what we are planning to do. We showcase our year in an annual video. Additionally, we give out the City Arts Partnership grants ($97,875 to 30 organizations this year), the Sanford Arts Partnership Merit Awards (FM Opera, The Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County, Gooseberry Park Players and The Rourke Art Museum), the TAP awards (Jade Presents, Office Sign Company, Kilbourne Group and Linda Boyd as outstanding arts leader) and this year, we launched a TAP board award (FM Symphony Orchestra and Gooseberry Park Players) for excellence in board service.
We were particularly thrilled to have all three City Mayors on hand to award the City Arts Partnership grants as well as consultant Russ White who talked about board structure and roles at the State of the Arts and then held a longer work session with 55+ board and staff members from 12 arts organizations afterwards.
Highlights from the past year include:
All in all, the event was a wonderful way to lift up and celebrate the arts in the Metro. Special thanks to Bell Bank for their continued signature sponsorship, Livewire for setting a beautiful stage, Dennis Krull of 5foot20 Design Lounge for the photos, Catie Miller for the awards, the FM Youth Choir and cellist Bill Comita for the music and NDSU’s Barry Hall for being our hosts.
We are already looking forward to another great year of working to #supportlocalart!
