“The beauty in our world deserves to be cherished, sustained, and rediscovered. We share this life, and every day we have the opportunity to act as thoughtful participants in it.”
This wonderful quote outlines the theme for CreativeMornings Fargo this month: preserve.
To dive into this theme, CreativeMornings Fargo welcomes Rachel and Jeremiah Utecht, founders of Off The Deck Hot Sauce to the stage at 8 a.m. Friday, May 31 at Drekker’s Brewhalla!
ABOUT THE SPEAKERS:
Rachel Utecht is an accomplished designer and co-founder of Off The Deck Hot Sauce and Flannel Fizz, where she leads marketing efforts, sales and production for each business. She has a passion for community engagement and enjoys building communities around her. At Off The Deck Hot Sauce and Flannel Fizz, she uses her talents to ensure their branding is engaging, their quality is high, and that the farmers and markets are taken care of.
Jeremiah Utecht is a serial entrepreneur and co-founder of Flannel Fizz and Off The Deck Hot Sauce. He got his start in Information Technologies but found a passion and talent for creating food products. Currently he manages logistics, quality control, and production for both businesses and focuses on producing exceptionally high quality products made with an emphasis on fresh regional ingredients. His recipes have been nominated for national awards through the Good Food Guild organization. He also successfully moved Off The Deck Hot Sauce to only using locally grown peppers in less than three years. The challenges of developing the logistic framework to support producing quality products keeps him energized and focused on the future.
ABOUT THE THEME:
When different people come into our lives, they bring gifts.
We can blend the best of our wisdom with the best of theirs. We can teach and learn from each other to produce closer circles that foster community and commit to diversity. People who include with intention, raise their hand to do the work of embracing what is unfamiliar.
Inclusion is an attitude to consciously be open to ideas that come from outside of our settled ways of thinking or feeling. It’s about making a decision that comes from a place of love, of caring for others.
When you place inclusivity at the center of how you live, it has great power to heal, elevate new voices, and change the narrative of who belongs. As diversity advocate Vernā Myers once said, “Diversity is being invited to the party. Inclusion is being asked to dance.”
CreativeMornings Fargo takes place every last Friday of the month at Brewhalla and features a different speaker each time. The morning is always full of free coffee from Stumbeanos, pastries from Sugarplum, a make and take, and good conversation with amazing creatives in our community. If you’d like to learn more, you can read the feature we wrote in the Fargo Forum when CreativeMornings Fargo started in the community!
Admission is free, but registration to the event is required. Tickets will be available starting at 10 a.m. Monday, May 27 on www.creativemornings.com/cities/far. We hope to see you there!
