If you are itching for a quick getaway, Lake Agassiz Concert Band is offering a chance to travel through different music genres and time periods at its “Voyage Éclectique” concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18 at Horizon Middle School Auditorium!
“Voyage éclectique” – which literally means “eclectic voyage” – presents a collection of music from a wide range of styles, sounds and moods. The first selection is “Renaissance Reimagined,” which looks at the Renaissance era but “puts a modern spin on it,” says Lake Agassiz Concert Band Director Monte Grisé.
Other selections include “Sheep Shearing Song” by Percy Grainger, “Estanci Dances” by Alberto Ginestera, “Hymn to a Blue Hour” by John Mackey, “Trail of Tears” by James Barnes and more.
“This performance will undoubtedly be a voyage for all who attend,” the concert band says.
During the concert, the band will make an exciting announcement about a big project it is part of next season with a well-known composer. That’s all we can say, though. You’ll have to attend the concert to find out more!
Lake Agassiz Concert Band is comprised of adult wind and percussion players and has performed around Fargo-Moorhead since 1987.
The band’s goal is to provide the community with free, outstanding musical performances; to create an artistic outlet for serious wind and percussion performers in the area; and to perform challenging traditional and contemporary wind band music.
In addition to their four formal concerts per year, the band also makes outdoor appearances at the MPR Classical Music Festival and other occasional special concerts.
Horizon Middle School is located at 3601 12th Ave. S. in Moorhead. For more information on the Lake Agassiz Concert Band, visit lakeagassizconcertband.org.
