Earlier this week, Partner Nichole’s Fine Pastry opened “Stitching in Place,” an exhibit of recent original fiber art by Clare Degerness. The works in “Stitching in Place” explore the theme of place, whether a memorable vacation, a plot in the artist’s garden or navigating from one place to another.
From a young age, artist Clare Degerness had the desire to create. Fabric became her medium of choice. Traditional quilt patterns and techniques form the foundation for her experimentation in non-traditional color combinations, unpredictable composition, and dyeing and other fabric manipulation.
Degerness’s art quilts have been exhibited throughout the region, including at the Plains Art Museum, Rourke Art Museum and Minnesota History Center, and are held in private and public collections, including the Minnesota Historical Society. For more than 20 years, she has designed and created liturgical art pieces for more than 25 churches in the region and beyond.
All the artwork on display at Nichole’s is available for purchase; please speak to the cashier if you are interested in purchasing a piece.
“Stitching in Place” is on display until July 15, 2017. Nichole’s Fine Pastry is located at 13 8th Street North in downtown Fargo.
