Welcome to our new website! This is where we can really engage with the great FMWF community and beyond. Special thanks to Shafer PR for the beautiful design and usability of the site. You can plan to find a letter from me every week, talking about what has happened and what is coming up for the weekend.
It’s been another great week at The Arts Partnership. I met with the three Mayors to talk about the State of the Arts in the Cities. This will be a cover story for the next issue of the paper. Here’s a sneak peak at how the conversation went: “Cities can grow, but without the arts they are not going to thrive. Everything has to be good—moving traffic, good streets, good arts. That’s how they make good cities work.” Mayor Rich Mattern, West Fargo. How cool is that?!?!? He gets it! It was an excellent conversation and I appreciated their time and willingness to meet with me!
I interviewed Cole Carley from the Convention and Visitors Bureau to talk about his last months in that job and his take on how the arts have played a role in attracting visitors to our community.
The publications committee and I met to plan out the next issue of ARTSpulse. We have lots of good Partner articles plus the ones we are working on. Should be another great issue when it hits stands in May.
I was on Prairie Public Radio to discuss the state Poetry Contest with Merrill Piepkorn and Bill Thomas—always fun to catch up with that pair!
I will be meeting with some web developers to discuss a community art project we are launching later this spring—keep your eye out for it. I’ll give you a clue, the title could be shortened to W3. Intrigued yet?
I had the good fortune to have lunch with Alissa Sorum of West Acres to ask her to join our re-granting committee. She said yes! Always lots of creative conversation with her about the arts and how to continue to expand them in our community. If you don’t know this, West Acres is an amazing supporter of the arts through their Regional Showcase program and beyond. Be on the lookout for their upcoming Design Green Fashion Competition.
All in all, it’s been a week of big think and big action—exactly how I like it! For all that’s going on this weekend, head over to culturepulse and find something fun to do in this amazingly artistic community we all call home!
