Gooseberry Park Players presents “The Wizard of Oz”
7:30 p.m. July 16-20, 1 p.m. July 21
at Hansen Theatre in MSUM Roland Dille Center for the Arts
Gooseberry Park Players is excited to announce The Wizard of Oz as their 2019 summer musical. Celebrating the 80th anniversary of the beloved film, Gooseberry Park Players will bring L. Frank Baum’s classic novel to life with the story of Dorothy Gale, a young Kansas farm girl who dreams of a land “somewhere over the rainbow.” This faithful adaptation by the Royal Shakespeare Company features all the most beloved songs and moments from the 1939 classic film, brought to life onstage.
Young Dorothy Gale is swept away by a tornado from her Kansas farm to the magical land of Oz. Accompanied by a scarecrow without a brain, a tin man with no heart, a cowardly lion and her dog Toto, Dorothy sets off along a yellow brick road for the Emerald City. Along the way, she makes new friends, but must also brave many dangers, including the Wicked Witch of the West, who will stop at nothing to get her hands on Dorothy’s magical ruby slippers. To make it home safely, Dorothy must learn an important lesson: there’s no place like home.
Show dates for our summer production are July 16-20* (7:30 pm) and July 21 (1 pm) in the Roland Dille Center for the Arts on the campus of MSUM, Hansen Theater – 801 13th St South, Moorhead MN.
