Theatre B Adding Performances of THE SANTALAND DIARIES
Theatre B is adding performances to its run of THE SANTALAND DIARIES by David Sedaris, adapted by Joe Montello. Starring local improv favorite and radio personality JJ Gordon, THE SANTALAND DIARIES is a sharp, witty alternative to the usual holiday fare.
“We seem to have found the magic formula for a holiday hit,” says Carrie Wintersteen, Executive Director at Theatre B. “JJ is the perfect actor for this one-man show, with his knack for comedy and improv. JJ can really read an audience, so each night he pulls them in and lands the jokes that will work best with the crowd.”
There are only three scheduled performances remaining, and each of them is nearly sold out already. When JJ learned that almost every night so far, there have been people on a waiting list for tickets, he offered to do more performances. However, JJ had just gotten married when rehearsals started, and the arrangement with his new wife was that they would take their honeymoon when the show closed. “I could do a late-night show – I’m always so full of energy when the show is done anyway!” JJ said.
So, the company decided to add a show Friday, December 14th at 9:45 p.m. and another on Sunday, December 16th at 2:00 p.m. “I can’t remember the last time we sold out every matinee,” says Wintersteen. “Clearly, JJ’s name recognition doesn’t hurt either.”
Friday, December 14 at 9:45 p.m.
Sunday, December 16 at 2:00 p.m.
Student ticket will be only $5 for the added shows
