The Fargo Public Library will host “Movie Musicals: Classics Through the Years,” a four-part series featuring four classic movie musicals that represent the range of the genre through the years, starting Sunday, Feb. 3, at the downtown Main Library.
The series opens with “Top Hat” (1935, not rated) Sunday, Feb. 3, at 2 p.m. in the Community Room. Local film critic and historian Tony McRae, along with local film critic Matt Olien, selected the films. They will introduce each movie and lead a brief discussion after each showing.
Other dates and films in the series include (all start times are 2 p.m.):
Feb. 17 – “On the Town” (1949, not rated)
March 3 – “Gigi” (1958, G)
March 10 – “Cabaret” (1972, PG)
All films are approximately 100 minutes long and free popcorn will be served. Children age 9 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. For details, call the Information Desk at 701.241.1492.
