FM Ballet Dance Concert Series at NDSU Festival Concert Hall
June 8 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm$10 – $20
Join FMBallet and Gasper’s School of Dance as we team up to present the final production of the season: Dance Concert Series. This will be a mixed-repertoire performance featuring FMBallet pieces touring to the prestigious Regional Dance America Festival in Lawrence KS. Next, the Gasper’s School of Dance competition team will perform a selection of their award-winning pieces. Finally, by popular demand, FMBallet will present an encore performance of Nimuue – A Spirit Rising, a new contemporary ballet choreographed and developed by Artistic Director, Matthew Gasper. Nimuue was the name given to the “Minnesota Woman”- the oldest human skeleton from the glacial era to be discovered in Minnesota in 1931 near Pelican Lake. Matthew took inspiration from the findings of archeologists that Nimuue was possibly a medicine woman traveling alone at the time of her death to develop the story of his ballet. He was also inspired by other works of art about Nimuue including music excerpts by composer and historian Phletus Williams and a sculpture by artist Marcella Rose. Join Nimuue on her adventures through the wilderness as she encounters birds, bears, wolves and even a few friendly spirits. This family friendly performance will delight audiences of all ages. Don’t miss your chance to experience the magic of professional dance.
One night only! June 8th, 7pm at NDSU Festival Concert Hall.
