What: Please join us at the Spirit Room in Gallery I for the exhibition of Brian Frink’s “Magical Landscapes,” a series of abstract landscapes inspired by the beauty and brute force of nature. Employing use of pastels, oil, and acrylic paints, Brian allows the spontaneity of mark making dictate where the piece leads him. Brian Frink lives in Mankato, MN in the old Blue Earth County Poor Farm which they have renamed to Poor Farm Studios. He earned his Master’s in Fine Arts while residing in Madison, Wisonsin. For the past thirty years Brian has taught painting and drawing at Minnesota State University, Mankato. Currently he serves as the Chair of the Art Department. In 2010 he was designated a Distinguished Faculty Scholar. His exhibitions have travelled across South Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa, and earned a variety of grants and awards including: a McKnight Fellowship, Minnesota State Art Board grant, A National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship, a Wisconsin State Arts Board grant, and a Jerome Travel and Study grant.
