START your summer off painting! If you have never painted before in watercolor, feel like you missed something when you started, or simply want a good review of the process, this is the class for you. Ellen Jean Diederich will help you get materials that work. You will learn about the paint and basic watercolor techniques and get started creating your first painting. Imagine yourself in a beautiful sunlit room, the smell of fresh coffee, fresh paints, clean paper, and a teacher who is there to guide you through your next masterpiece. Bring photos of the things you always wanted to paint and any paintings you need help with. Make this your special time to think and grow with your art. Class is limited to 15 students!
Tuesday: Understand the paint, the paper, and the process. Paint a subject with two colors.
Wednesday: Warm up by painting a flower while holding it in your hand. Paint a background around it. Integrate the background and foreground. Draw out a subject full size for your Thursday/Friday painting.
Thursday/Friday: Using a limited palette Make a grid and trace your drawing onto it. We will teach you basic painting techniques and integrate the grid into it.
When you check in on Tuesday, I will be there to help you with supplies at 8:30 am. Bring everything you have on the supply list. I will bring my favorite paints, paper, and brushes available for purchase at discounted prices to make sure you have supplies that work. You will watch demonstrations, practice techniques, and create your own paintings. You may paint from the photographs provided, and/or bring your own. A welcome letter will be sent to you two weeks prior with more details.
I look forward to working with you! This is a new location. You can bring your own lunch or there are several restaurants within walking distance.
