UND Art Collections Seeks submissions for Her Votes Count Exhibition
This exhibition is open to female artists and artists who identify as female. It celebrates the spirit of the women who fought for the right to vote, beginning with the suffragette movement a century ago and the subsequent fight for women of color to gain equal voting rights. The artist is invited to interpret the theme as they choose through their work.
Please drop off work that meets the criteria as stated per this call on Monday, September 30 from 9-5pm.
Artists will be notified to pick up work that is not accepted on October 1.
Reception: October 3, 4:30-6:30pm. Free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
Purchase Award announcement: UND Art Collections will purchase at least one work of art from the exhibition to add to its permanent collection. Purchase Award announcement will be made at 5pm during the opening reception.
Artwork pickup is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 22 , 9-1pm.

12:00-1:00 p.m. – “Voices in Leadership” Panel Discussion & Lunch
Panelists: Heidi Heitkamp (former U.S. Senator), Judy Lee (ND State Senator), Marilyn Youngbird (Tribal Elder – Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara Nation), Susan Carter (President of National Woman’s Party), and JoNell Bakke (ND State Senator)
*Doors open at 11:30 a.m., Complimentary lunch provided, Q&A 1:00-1:30 p.m.
4:30-6:30 p.m. – “Her Votes Count” – UND Art Collections Opening Reception
A juried exhibition celebrating the spirit of women who fought for the right to vote.
*Complimentary refreshments provided.
6:30-9:00 p.m. – Film: Screening of “Iron Jawed Angels”
A reading of “Why Vote” by Eliot Glassheim, performance by Dance Etc., and a screening of “Iron Jawed Angels,” a film about the story of the fight for women’s right to vote.
