Odd Occurrences MSUM Juried Exhibition
MSUM’s School of Art will be hosting a juried exhibition. The theme of the exhibition is artwork that is unconventional in process, form, or concept. This may encompass any works of art that range from the creepy and macabre to the silly and whimsical in order to create an odd experience for the viewer.
MSUM art students currently enrolled in Art 498 Exhibition will jury the show.
Open to ALL artists within driving distance of Minnesota State University Moorhead.
All work must be delivered and picked up in person. We will not accept shipped artwork.
All work must have been completed within the past 2 years.
All mediums are eligible. These include, but are not limited to, painting, sculpture, ceramics, drawing, printmaking, photography, performance art, film, wood, fiber, metal, glass, digital, and mixed media.

Artists are allowed up to 2 submissions.
Email completed form and images to Art498Exhibition@mnstate.edu
Images should be in .jpg format. The longest dimension should not exceed 1500 pixels, with a minimum of 72dpi.
Video excerpts should not run more than one minute. Resolution should be 480p.
Save images and videos as artist’s last name, first name and number of the submission. (Example: Jane.Doe1.jpg) Detail images should also include a letter (Example: Jane.Doe1a.jpg).
There should be no more than 4 images or videos in total. Emails should not exceed 20MB.
Monday, April 1, 2019: Entries due by 11:59pm.
Friday, April 5, 2019: Notification of acceptance.
Thursday, April 18, 2019: Drop off artwork 6pm-8pm to Roland Dille Gallery in Center for Arts, on the MSUM campus. 801 13th Street South, Moorhead, MN 56563.
Friday, April 19, 2019: Drop off artwork 10am-1pm to Roland Dille Gallery located within Center for Arts.
April 23-June 28, 2019: Exhibition dates.
Thursday, April 25, 2019: Opening reception 4pm-7pm.
Saturday, June 29, 2019: Pick up artwork 10am-noon.
Sunday, June 30, 2019: Pick up artwork 4pm-6pm.
Works must be distinctly odd or unconventional.
Gallery space is limited. Works cannot exceed 8 feet in any direction. Artwork must fit through the gallery’s doorframe (8ft H x 7ft W).
All 2-D work or wall pieces must be ready to hang or install in a professional manner. No saw tooth hangers allowed.
The gallery is equipped with pedestals and limited digital equipment. The artist must provide any special equipment needed.
Accepted work may not be picked up before the closing of the exhibition.
Artwork requiring assembly must be delivered and constructed by the artist. At the end of the exhibition, such artwork must be disassembled and picked up by the artist.
The jurors reserve the right to not display artwork that does not meet the requirements of the exhibition, including: artworks that do not fit the theme, artworks that are a different size than stated on the application, artworks that do not show the quality represented in the submitted image or have been altered from the original image, artworks that arrive damaged, and artworks not meeting the professional standards of the MSUM Gallery.
MSUM does not handle sales, but will connect artists with interested buyers.
MSUM will take all necessary precautions to protect and handle the artwork with care. This is an uninsured exhibition, and MSUM does not assume responsibility for damaged artwork. Artists participate at their own risk.
